YPT3 have made a building-wide site-specific murder mystery, they have curated and performed in a week of club events at the Shunt Vaults, hosted burlesque and cabaret nights and set up performer-less interactive puzzles for their audience. They've worked with UK theatre greats including Punchdrunk, Shunt, Coney, Marisa Carnesky, Forced Entertainment, Rotozaza and Polarbear.
Through YPT you will form your own ideas on what theatre is, what it can be and what you want it to be. You will work collaboratively within a supportive company as well as be encouraged to pursue your own independent ideas and make them happen. You'll take risks, you'll get scared, you'll argue and maybe even cry – but you're likely to make life long friends and you will create great theatre.
Summer Term 2010
This term the work is all focused on the practice of One on One performance: that is, one performer and one audience member at a time. This is an innovative and exciting practice that will challenge and develop your performance and devising skills.
You will be working as a group with four professional artists from a wide range of theatre practices, but who all have significant expertise in creating One on One performances. These artists will lead practical workshops that will give you an insight into their working methods and approaches to making these very intimate pieces. You will then be mentored by one of these artists whilst you develop and devise your own scratch performance piece. You will then get to perform your new scratch performance in the One on One Festival in July!
When do YPT3 meet? The new Summer Term starts Wednesday 12 May. Regular rehearsals are on Wednesdays & Thursdays 7.30pm - 10pm, although some additional rehearsal time may be required near show dates. Show dates for YPT3 are 14 - 18 July 2010.
