The deadpan duo behind E4’s Musical Storytellers, Ginger and Black are back with a wartime tale of intrigue, suspense, mystery and other keywords.
Carefully combing their partings to the side, the Chortle Best Newcomer nominees drag the audience back in time to Churchill’s heyday. Bursting out of their storytelling Tardis, the duo give figurative birth to a legend that features corrupted scout leaders, renegade mice and a boy’s efforts to save the empire using a self-assembled army of rejects.
Using songs, sketch, animation and a dodgy grasp of history, the self-proclaimed storytelling gold medallists unleash an unbridled adventure you’ll want to tell your grandchildren about. But don’t. It’s copyrighted, and just to make sure, there’ll probably be some swear words in it.
Ginger and Black’s unique brand of dry humour has landed them features on Radio 1’s The Annie Mac Show, Radio 2’s Out To Lunch, Radio 4’s Loose Ends, Paramount’s The World Stands Up, and BBC Three’s Comedy Shuffle. E4 commissioned them to write and star in their own short film and last year and the pair supported Simon Amstell on his UK tour.
