It’s over two years since Improbable hosted their first Mentoring Fête at Rich Mix, with eight companies sharing their experience and advice on the highs and the heartaches of starting a theatre company.
We are excited to announce that on the 17 December Improbable and BAC will host the second Mentoring Fête. This time the theme will be Relationships with Venues, and the ‘mentor’ companies will include Improbable, BAC, Duckie, Blind Summit Theatre, Fuel, Coney and others. Whether you are still studying, just starting out, or are longer established, we invite you to come and share the varied experiences of these companies.
The evening begins with a speed dating style set up where participants move from table to table, meeting in turn each of the different companies and artists. This is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about how different venues, companies and artists work to establish, maintain, invigorate and re-invigorate their relationships with each other. For both artists and venues it is hard to overstate the importance of these relationships and this is your chance to ask a bunch of people who have been there, done that, got it wrong and got it right, all those questions that you have perhaps not had an opportunity to ask before.
After the speed dating you will have the chance to make appointments with artists or companies that you have a particular question for and spend some one to one time with them. Being a festive fête, there will obviously also be games, music, mulled wine and an atmosphere that is more party than conference!
The event is happening in BAC’s Lower Hall and numbers are limited, so book early to ensure your place. If you have any other inquiries or access requirements please get in touch at lucy@improbable.co.uk
