Homegrown is our Young Company for people aged 12-21, that makes three shows a year and has already toured the UK to festivals such as Lovebox, Latitude and Glastonbury.
We are currently looking to cast 10 young people for the Autumn production, Votes, that will be developed and directed by the Artist and Activist Selina Thompson.
The project is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, approved in 1918, which allowed women to vote for the first time in the UK history. The company will be working with Selina Thompson and various other professionals to explore this topic and develop a performance that will be staged at Battersea Arts Centre on the last week of November.
About Selina Thompson:
Selina is an artist and performer based in Leeds. Her work is playful, participatory and intimate, focused on the politics of identity, and how this defines our bodies, lives and environments. She has made work for pubs, cafes, hairdressers, toilets, galleries and theatres, including Spill Festival of Performance, The National Theatre Studio, The Birmingham REP, East Street Arts and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
