Miriam and her granddad are making a cabaret together. They're the perfect double act: He's got the stories, she loves telling them, and they both have a flair for the theatrical. The only problem is - they've never met. And he's been dead for 36 years.

Laco Kalina was a dramaturg, satirist, collector of jokes, writer of cabarets, born in Slovakia in 1913 and died in Germany in 1981. He survived the fascists only to be imprisoned by the communists, who believed he was a threat to the regime.

Using his autobiographies and cabaret material, we present this generationally challenged duo: a contemporary cabaret featuring original music and real live Slovaks.

After a year of development at Battersea Arts Centre, join us for the first full-length Scratch of this new piece of music theatre.

Original music by Thom Andrewes and Will Gardner.

Running time: 80 mins
Age recommendation: 12+

Scratch allows artists to test ideas and get audience feedback. The performance you will see is a work in development. Come explore and be the first to discover the future of theatre.
