TOURING

Battersea Arts Centre (BAC) has been taking shows out of the building and across the globe since 2011. The dedicated BAC Touring team have toured work to festivals, mid-scale venues, schools, studios and community spaces across the UK and internationally. Our touring productions have reached audiences in over 20 countries including Brazil, Kuwait, New Zealand, USA and China. 

BRITISH COUNCIL SHOWCASE IN EDINBURGH 2017:

NOT I
A neurodiverse and fully accessible theatrical experience asking who is allowed to perform what and who gets the final say. Samuel Beckett's challenging monologue is performed by an actor with Tourettes, and interpreted in sign language.

THE PAPER CINEMA'S MACBETH
Shakespeare's tragedy is reimagined for our times and brought to life, as beautifully drawn puppets, evocative music, Foley sound and cinematic projection combine in a captivating silent film created before your eyes.

TOURING IN 2017:

ORPHEUS
An immersive, cabaret-style event, drawing on the 1930s gypsy jazz scene and the bustling Music Hall atmosphere. The life of the classical tragic hero is brought alive with an eclectic, original musial score and live projection.

DAD DANCING
Meet three brave dads who agreed to dance with their daughters on stage. Through a series of touching episodes, they explore father-child relationships with joyous contemporary choreography, humour and playful storytelling.

LIVE BEFORE YOU DIE
What do you do when you have a best mate who is so sad he might die? A funny, tragic and shockingly honest true story of happiness, hopelessness and friendship, told by two northern blokes struggling to find happiness.

CHEKHOV'S FIRST PLAY
During the turmoil of the Russian Revolution in 1917, Maria Chekhov placed her late brother's manuscripts and papers in a safety deposit box in Moscow. In 1921 Soviet scholars opened the box, and discovered an unstageable play.

DARK CORNERS
Engaging story telling about the places in your brain where things hide, and what happens when they come out to play. The audience help the performer build the story in this interactive story, exploring the impact of our decisions.

DENMARKED
Council estate tales of dodgy best friends. Rites of passage; your first arrest, dinner with your social worker and the Christmas dad went to prison. An autobiographical performance told through storytelling, rapping and a loop station.

FRANKENSTEIN
Inspired by the monstrous tale of power and persecution. A whirlwind of originally devised music, improvised tracks and, of course, battles. Expect drama.

MOUTH OPEN, STORY JUMP OUT
Polarbear makes things up; stories, jokes, adventures - a master maker-upper. But where did it all begin? This show explores truth and invention, looking at how language is crafted to shape meaning.

NEVERLAND
Inspired by J.M. Barrie's Neverland in Peter Pan, this immersive show for children aged 1-3 uses beautiful 360 video projections, original music and performance to tell the story of a child's imagination.

THE PAPER CINEMA'S ODYSSEY
An interpretive live performance based on Homer's The Odyssey, using hand-drawn paper puppets that are brought to life through live cinema and performed to originally scored music.

UNTIL YOU HEAR THAT BELL
Timed to precision, the metallic cry of the boxing bell unleashes spoken word torrents, moving through childhood reminiscences and rites of passage, splice with sequences of lightening quick rope-work, jabs and mighty uppercuts.
