We are looking for partners to help build a new national and international network to explore the role which producers, cultural organisations and artists can play to co-create change with community partners.

The background to this callout is described in two blogs by David Jubb, Artistic Director of Battersea Arts Centre:

There are currently 5 practical things the network is setting out to do:

  1. Support the development of new or existing co-created methodologies - with a commissioning pot of £120,000
  2. Support a number of the commissions in 1 to “tour” nationally and/or internationally with multiple partners (this element is subject to funding)
  3. Support the network to host workshops and share skills and knowledge in co-created practice
  4. Host an annual international marketplace of co-created practice with the idea of growing opportunities for methodologies or approaches to “tour”
  5. Work together to advocate for a better understanding and appreciation of co-created practice both in the arts sector and beyond

Arts Council England is supporting the network through their Ambition for Excellence Fund. We have been working closely with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as a founding partner for the network, and we are exploring connections with others. This is not all about funding the network but about developing a dialogue about how ideas which grow out of the network could be spread.  To this end we have also been working with the British Council and we are interested to work with University research teams, cultural critics and writers as part of the wider network.

Sector Partners

We have had great conversations with lots of organisations and practitioners who are working in this territory. We are interested in connecting with people working across the arts and museums sector and beyond. We hope there will be strong interest in joining the network - we are looking for up to 60 partners who might be producers, community organisations or artists.

Expressions of Interest

As our plans and ideas for the network have developed, as described in David’s 2nd blog, and because we want to give time for international connections to be made, we have extended our deadline for Expressions of Interest to become part of the network.

So if you are interested, have a read of the blogs and complete the expression of interest questions by 10am on Monday 25th June 2018. Alternatively, you can send us a video if you prefer that format.

We are playing a curatorial role to bring together the network from this call out. We will be in touch in July to let you know the outcome of the process. If you have been invited to be part of the network we will invite you to an initial gathering on the afternoon of Thursday 19th July 2018 to co-develop the ideas and future process for the network.

If you would like to be kept up to date on this, please email
