Artist Call Out: Collaborative Touring Network

The Collaborative Touring Network (CTN) is offering a unique seed commissioning opportunity for an artist or company to develop a piece of touring theatre. The commission aims to support a piece of performance to be an example of excellence in touring to areas of low engagement.

CTN is a partnership between Battersea Arts Centre and eight national partners based in Hull, Darlington, Gloucester, Thanet, Torbay, Wigan, Peterborough and Medway. We produce, tour and present exceptional performances in surprising contexts. Occupying car parks, community centres, boxing gyms and nightclubs, our vision is a nation where everyone has inspiring art and culture on their doorstep.

The commission will include:

  • £3000 cash investment to develop the work
  • Three expenses-paid week-long residencies with CTN partners across 2018 & 2019 to develop and scratch the work with audiences. Please note that travel and accommodation costs will be covered for these residencies, with rehearsal space offered in kind. No additional artistic fees will be offered for these weeks.
  • Face to face support from Battersea Arts Centre producers and selected CTN producers in the lead up to and during the residencies
  • Introduction to a network of national partners of producers
  • Development opportunities with young people/family audiences

We're interested in supporting an artist or company who have a particular interest in making ambitious, accessible work for new audiences. We have a particular interest in developing young audiences, and are keen to hear from artists who want to explore making work for young people and/or families.

We would love to hear from you if you are an artist or company with an idea you're looking to develop. We are interested in working with curious, collaborative artists who are open to this process and excited about working in partnership with the CTN producers and their expertise.
