Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Our website uses cookies to help it work properly and provide you with the best browsing experience we can.

Cookies are small text files that are automatically placed onto your device (for example, a computer or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to allow a website to function. Cookies also help us monitor how you use our website so that we can make improvements.

Our cookies help us:

  • Make our website work as you'd expect
  • Improve the speed and security of the website
  • Remember your settings during and between visits
  • Allow you to share pages on Facebook and Twitter if you want to
  • Continuously improve our website for you
  • Make our marketing more efficient

We never use cookies to:

  • Pay sales commissions
  • Collect any sensitive information

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies when you visit our website. There are four main types of cookies – read more about how and why we use them below:

1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are set to help support the structure of the pages that are displayed to you. These help the website to function and enhance the look and feel of the website. They also help to improve navigation around our website and allow you to return to pages you have previously visited. This type of ‘cookie’ only lasts for the duration of the time you are visiting the website. When you leave the website they are deleted automatically. Our website uses the following Strictly Necessary cookies:

CookieDetection deleted when the user ends their browser session, used to identify whether cookies can be set.

SessionID deleted when the user ends their browser session, used to distinguish users.

SpektrixClientName 1 year until expires, used to distinguish Spektrix client systems.

2. Functionality Cookies

These cookies are used to make accessing the website more convenient, and ensure you can carry out activity on the site. For example, making our shopping basket and checkout work, determining if you are logged in or not, remembering your search settings. Such cookies will remain on your hard drive until you choose to clear them.  If you choose to do this, you will need to enter your details each time you visit the site.

So you can easily “Like” or share our content on Facebook and Twitter,  we have included sharing buttons on our site. Some cookies may be set by engaging with embedded media on our site, such as YouTube or clicking to share with Facebook or Twitter. These cookies are listed below. Find out more about each company’s privacy policy using the links. Cookies are set by:

Facebook - Privacy Policy
Twitter - Privacy Policy
YouTube - Privacy Policy

3. Performance Cookies

These cookies are used to provide aggregated statistics on visitors to our websites and their browsing behaviour - such as how many people have visited our website, what type of technology they are using (e.g. Mac or Windows which helps to identify when our site isn't working as it should for particular technologies), how long they spend on the site, what page they look at etc. This enables us to order the site to make customers’ journeys easier and to make improvements. These analytics programs also tell us on an anonymous basis how people reached this site (e.g. from a search engine) and whether they have been here before, helping us to put more money into developing our services for you instead of marketing spend. The data is aggregated and anonymised, which means we can’t identify you as an individual.

We predominantly use Google Analytics to carry out analytical functions on our website. Google Analytics Spektrix iframes include Google Analytics cookies. More information can be found here.

We use the following Performance Cookies on our website:

ReturningCustomerCookie persists until the customer clears their cookies, used to recognise return users.

SpektrixLastContact 1 year until expires, used to recognise the last time the user interacted.

_gat Google Analytics. This cookie is used to track and report website traffic. Expires 2 years from set/ update.

_ga Google Analytics. This cookie is used to track and report website traffic. Expires 2 years from set/ update.

_gid Google Analytics. This cookie is used to track and report website traffic. Expires 2 years from set/ update.

You can opt-out of being tracked by Google Analytics. View their privacy policy.

4. Targeting cookies (E.g. advertising cookies)

These cookies may be placed on a device to remember that you have visited certain websites. These cookies are used to deliver ads that are relevant to you based on your interests. They also limit the number of times you see an ad and help us measure the effectiveness of our marketing. These cookies can track your visits, but they don’t know who you are even if you are logged in to bac.org.uk.

You may notice that sometimes after visiting a site you see increased numbers of adverts from the site you visited. This is because advertisers, including ourselves, pay for these adverts. The technology to do this is made possible by cookies and as such we may place a so called “remarketing cookie” during your visit.

Cookies are widely used in online advertising. You can learn more about online advertising here. Neither we nor our advertisers can gain personally identifiable information from these cookies.

You can opt-out from targeted advertising cookies. Please note that opting out won’t mean that you won't see any adverts; you will still see the same number but they will no longer be tailored to be relevant to your interests.

More about the way we use Targeted cookies:

We host the Facebook Pixel on our site. This pixel enables us to track users (anonymous to us) once they click on one of our Facebook and Instagram adverts. This helps us see how people engage with the content on our website and if they purchase a ticket as a result of clicking on an ad.

Whilst it is not possible for a Facebook or Instagram user to entirely opt-out of adverts on the platform itself, you can change what types of adverts you see and the information Facebook uses to target you with adverts.

You may still see adverts from us on Facebook or Instagram after you change your preferences if you sit within some of Facebook's anonymised interest based groups.

Head to your Facebook
advertising settings for more info and to change your advert preferences.
