See-through hands and torso loom over a minature city

2 - 28 Mar

In response the latest guidelines around COVID-19, Battersea Arts Centre is now temporarily closed to the public. This includes all performances of unReal City. We are closely monitoring new advice and aim to open as soon as it is responsible to do so.

In the meantime, we’re working to find ways to support the incredible artists and communities who work with us. To help,
please consider a donation to Battersea Arts Centre. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, really helps us and those who rely on us for work and support.

unReal City is a virtual reality experience for two audience members at a time

Discover your new home at our Virtual Reality showroom, with a private viewing of our fully accessible, hi-tech apartments. Opening soon in London’s latest Smart City district, our virtual apartments put the city at your doorstep.

Once immersed in our virtual-living world, you’ll meet other guests, connect with future residents, and explore the virtual city using the latest technology on the market.

Blending intimate live performance by learning disabled artists with virtual and mixed reality, unReal City explores what personal connection means in a world that is increasingly digital.

The performance you will see is the experimental first phase of a work-in-progress collaboration between two of the UK’s leading performing arts companies.

Running Time: 30 mins.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the performance start time.

Commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre.
Developed with Battersea Arts Centre and supported by the National Theatre Immersive Storytelling Studio

Relaxed Performances
All performances will be Relaxed. At Battersea Arts Centre, this means that you are free to move about, make noise and come and go during the show. If you are late we will do our best to fit you into another slot if one is available, although we can’t guarantee this will be possible. It does not mean that light and sound effects have been changed. For more info, visit our Access Page.

All performances will be sensory-adaptive. The virtual reality headset worn throughout the performance will allow you to adjust the sound and light levels.

A familiarisation tour will be available on Wednesday March 11th and Friday March 27th at 5:00pm. You can book these through our website here. Alternatively please email or call 02076136445 and ask for Lucy to book a familiarisation tour.
