Luke Kempner is one of the UK’s hottest new impressionists for the millennial comedy generation with his contemporary take on pop culture mimicry. Combining razor sharp stand-up with his incisively accurate imitations, Luke is familiar to television audiences with his regular appearances in the BAFTA winning Murder in Successville (BBC3) and as the breakout star of The Imitation Game on ITV1, which led to an appearance on The Royal Variety Performance (ITV1). He has made a big impact with his slots on Love Island Aftersun (ITV2) and his other credits also include Celebability (ITV2), Hey Tracey (ITV2) and Pointless Celebrities (BBC1). Luke created and starred in his own review show for ITV2, entitled Luke Kempner’s Impression of 2015 and was the resident comedian on Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side (Channel 5) for 9 series. He is also a regular on BBC Radio 4’s topical comedy institutions The Now Show and News Jack.
Phil Wang has made a name for himself exploring sex, romance, politics and his British-Malaysian heritage, in shows that delight in his unique brand of smart-silly stupidity. Broadcast credits include Have I Got News For You (BBC One), hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Taskmaster (Dave), performing as one of only two non-US acts on The Comedy Line-Up (Netflix), QI (BBC Two), Would I Lie to You? (BBC One), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Ch4), The Last Leg (Ch4), Unspun With Matt Forde (Dave), Roast Battle and Drunk History (both Comedy Central) and Jack Dee’s Helpdesk (BBC Two). Phil recently used his outsider perspective to dissect the increasingly binary debates dividing Britain in a new BBC Radio 4 stand-up show, Wangsplaining. He has also written and starred in two series of Daphne Sounds Expensive for BBC Radio 4 with his Foster’s Newcomer Award nominated sketch trio, Daphne. An internationally acclaimed live act, Phil has performed at festivals including Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the New Zealand Comedy Festival. His last critically-acclaimed live show, Kinabalu, sold out at Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and the subsequent national tour was extended through 2018 including four weeks at Soho Theatre.
Ray Badran is a stand-up comedian and writer. Originally from Sydney, Ray has performed in the UK, Holland, Norway, Belgium, America, Hong Kong, New Zealand and across Australia. In 2017, he created and starred in the Comedy Central Australia/New Zealand TV show No Experience Necessary and hosted the ABC Comedy Podcast Positions Vacant He was also awarded Best International Guest Comedian by the New Zealand Comedy Guild. Renowned for his off-beat observational comedy, Ray has written comedy for TV, theatre, radio and more.
Your MC for the evening, Phil Ellis, is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. In 2014, Phil won the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize at the Edinburgh Fringe for his childrens show Funz and Gamez and hosted BBC R4’s Funny From the Fringe. His four-part BBC Radio 4 series, Phil Ellis Is Trying, is due to return for a third series in 2020. The second series was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy (Longform) in the BBC Audio Awards 2020.
